Beautiful friends Can and Ece. Their son Orgun was
my son's best friend throughout his school years.
They divide most of their time between NC and their
native Turkey but made time to visit me in NM.
Marlene (as in Dietrich)   My first student in NM!   We bonded so closely   ...then she had to move to Hawaii for her health.   It hurts to not be able to spend time with her and see her eyes sparkle.
Mis vecinos chulos,   Charlie & Vivian,
are descendents of the original Spanish
Land Grant families.   They usually stay
put...   but here they are at Graceland!
I got to babysit their cockatiels.
Vivi's new bundle of joy, Clementine, la salchichita.

Meanwhile, they visit a lot!

La Rosa entertaining her
newborn grandson.
Maria Elena, my dear, smart, fearless amiga.   When we first met in the '80's, she spoke just a little English and I, little Spanish, but we DID manage to communicate -- we had so many passions to share!   She lives in NC and makes two visits a year to her home in Colombia.   La quiero mucho, la extraño demasiado.
Sandy & Billy's house over my wall (and under my portal)

Joe -- querido amigo, sometimes-employer and fellow luchista.
Alas, he still lives and practices law in NC.

Sandy's new buddy "Buddy Lee" a rescued dachshund with blue eyes.
Yarrott, aka I-griega, another 'neighbor' who came to NM from NY.   He's a warm friend, terrific company, a talented artist and a FINE writer.

My first NM friend & neighbor, Marilyn!
This photo ought to be on a book jacket -- classy!
Marilyn's dogs, Petl and Aggie (as youngsters) with friend & sister-in-law, Lucy.
My childhood friend in California.
Patricia & husband Dexter drive big
rigs back and forth across the US.
Eventually they want to retire in
Nicaragua where Dexter was born.
My closest neighbors at the California ranch -- my true home in a former life.   Donna & Button have since moved from the Mt. Hamilton range to another cattle ranch near the Oregon border, their 'piece of heaven.'   We consider ourselves
in-laws as well as old friends.
